.:back to business:.

So, first things first...
merry xmas you all! May your bellies be full, your hearts be hopeful and your souls be joyful...

Now, back in programme... We've been away for a while (year, cough, cough, a year) and I must say it could be described as anything but uneventful...

Little Miss P has grown a lot, learnt even more and become quite a chatterbox (yep, both in Portuguese and Italian, but, sorry to warn you her mommy has opted out English - ps. : if you were my student this year and got curious about why the hell I would hammer into you the importance of English in your life but wouldn't be so demanding with my baby just send me a line and I will give you all the dirty details, or you may decide to believe I love you more and that is why I care... :p)

This little family of hours has gattered a lot of experience... We now total 2 different pets- owned and passed to family/as good as family members,  4 house/house-like environments, 2 international moves, way too many boxes posted to keep track of,  an 18 hours long trip/flight with a baby, a 9 hours long drive with a young toddler, and finally our back to home trip with a toddler (a 13 hour long trip/night flight)... And everything in less than a year...

Now not relying on numbers only, I must confide we enjoyed our little adventure... Let's say we had a  one-year bonus to enjoy near my family and friends, even though I must admit that a year goes by really fast and modern life is a true b* (excuse my French) who still away what little time we have with iron claws... We didn't get half the time we expected to have spent with loved ones, in exchange we got to know each and every crevice of the burocracy related buildings in Brazil ( no kidding, I can easily say that if we put together the time wasted on papers and laws and whatanots we would have lived at least a month inside offices... But now I am sure I mastered all of it, I can assess the situation really fast and start yelling/suing the right people in a way that would make the hamster proud...

Another plus side was our job... Getting to do what you love as a living is something so rare that people don't even believe it exists and end up underestimating its power at making one's life trully better. I hadn't realised how much I missed teaching a full classroom until I saw the first bunch of faces satring at me... I will never be able to explain anybody who is not a teacher how whole you feel when your students acknowledge your effort and say it was worth something... You need to be there and experience it first hand, I will tell, one of the best sensations ever... As for dear husband, he was doing sth he liked well enough, starting to get ahead on business and enjoying way too much power... Even though things were looking up at work we are not work oriented, we want to grow kids, not money...

As to say why we decided to go back to Italy... Our sweet little lady was a champion at nursery school, I swear, she can name each and every kid and employee inthe photos, she loves all of them... She would come home enthusiastic about what she learnt, chanting rhymes from school and explaining her progress on what I can only believe to be simlish.... The problem is, we need our kid to have a healthy environment, to be able to touch dirt (and if she really goes for it, eating the damn thing, why not?), run on the grass, not be afraid of all living things, and stay away from hospitals as much as possible...

Unfortunately, regarding quality of life, My beloved country still has a long way to go... And whilst we cheer for it, we weren't willing to jeopardize our daughter's healthy/life/future... So guys, as much as I love you this is our farewell... Try to keep track of our mess through this humble blog...

See you in Italy!
Xoxo,
Vanessa
